Snowpiercer: Killing Your Soul One Train Car At A Time (A Review)

Snow Piercer

There’s not a lot to be said about this film that hasn’t already been blasted by other more established sources. It’s the pet project of Joon Ho Bong, and numerous prominent western actors but that’s not what made this film so good. Themes are important when it comes to films, and Snowpiercer’s absolutely filled with philosophical ideas and they’re pretty well executed. It’s just a shame that this film is so relentlessly dark.

What starts as a revolution, quickly turns into revelations about the nature of the train and its inhabitants. Each car that Chris Evans and his motley crew conquers reveals an ever darker secret about their so-called utopia. The film touches on the delicate balance of nature, the importance of children, and how the big guy may actually have some very twisted plans regarding the control of the population. In fact, if you take a look at the Ferguson crisis erupting now, you may actually draw a few parallels for yourself. I highly suggest this film for those that want to kill off their optimism just for a little while.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

Battle of Five Armies

The final installment for the film adaptation of The Hobbit, The Battle of The Five Armies, will be out this December. Originally a two part movie, with the second installment titled “There And Back Again”, Jackson added 2 more feature films(The Desolation of Smaug and The Battle of the Five Armies) adding yet another trilogy to The Lord of the Rings franchise. Additional scenes had to be filmed last year which is why Jackson announced that he had been locked up editing the movie this April. The fight for Erebor will conclude for the UK on December 7th, and on December 14th for the US. An extended version of Desolation of Smaug was also announced to be in the works.

CRAP! IT’S BATMAN!

The Suicide Team

Assault on Arkham, the newest animation film from one of our most loved heroes is nearly here and no wonder “Crap! It’s Batman!” is on every fanboy’s (and fangirl’s) lips. The film will be available August 12 of this year so be sure to keep your sights on it as it promises to be a good one.

This short clip from Cosmic Book News shows just how good the fight scenes promise to be and what a clip it is: Batman coming in and out of shadow, zipping in and out of combat and giving those who stand against him a reason to say “Crap! It’s Batman!”

Interstellar’s Breathtaking Trailer Is Surprisingly Hopeful

Interstellar

Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar trailer is gorgeous and surprisingly very optimistic and hopeful in contrast to his previous films.

The movie starring Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway tinkers with the idea of wormholes for interstellar travel which reminded us of Mass Effect. The movie is out this November.
